Frequently Asked Questions
•When should I book Newborn Bliss for my Newborn Session?
It is never too early to book for your newborn session as my availability fills quickly. I only schedule a limited number of Newborn Bliss sessions each month to allow plenty of time and attention to each of my clients, therefore, booking 2-3 months in advance is recommended.
•How do I book a session in advance when I’m not sure of the exact day my baby will be born?
Easy Peasie… I limit my Newborn Bliss Sessions to 10 - 12 newborns per month. These are based on Baby’s Due Date. Limiting the number of these sessions I take on per month guarantees my availability and that I am able to get you scheduled once your little one arrives. Once baby is born, let me know as soon as possible and we will select an exact date and time for the session. I prefer to be notified when baby is around 2 days new (or the day you all leave the hospital) and definitely before baby turns 5 days. If you do not contact me within that first week, I cannot guarantee availability before the 17 day mark, so please contact me very early.
•What age is best for a Newborn Session?
The best time to photograph your newborn is BEFORE 17 days of age. The 7-17 day old range is optimal for newborn images and is the best time to get those precious, peaceful, sleepy, and very curly poses. After 17 days of age, the baby is far more alert and baby acne and colic are common at that age. If your baby is older than 17 days, don’t worry, we can still capture beautiful photos - it may just take more effort on both ends and we will need to skip some of the poses you see.
•How long does a Newborn Session last?
Blissful Mini-Sessions last 1 hour (See page titled Blissful Mini for specific details) Newborn Bliss sessions typically run long due to the frequent soothing of the infant, expect a minimum of 3 hours. I do not rush the session and I let baby take as many breaks as needed. This is also time for mom and dad to rest and relax as my assistant and I take over for the duration of the session. You may watch TV while we work or feel free to bring a book, catch up on emails, texts, and Social Media, take a nap on our comfy couch or simply sit back and enjoy watching the session.
•Do you provide any props for the session?
We have a wide selection of props, including an abundance of hats, blankets, wraps, headbands, beanies, throws, baskets, buckets, bowls, and much, much more that we provide as Kendra personally stylizes your session just for you. DUE TO COVID-19, OUTSIDE PROPS ARE PROHIBITED FROM THE STUDIO FOR USE IN SESSIONS.
•When & where does the session take place?
Sessions take place on Weekdays (Monday-Friday) around 11:00am in my home studio located just North of Amarillo. (near North Western and North Loop 335). Once you have booked with us, You will receive our Preparation Packet that will contain the studio address with detailed directions to the studio.
•Can a sibling and/or parents be in a couple of shots?
Yes, if you book a Newborn Bliss Family Session. I allow parents and siblings to be included for a few shots at the beginning of the session. I do request that siblings and anyone who is not mom or dad have arrangements made to be picked up once we have completed the images that include them. The session does last a few hours and little ones tend to get bored and cranky having to wait around (my little one would too!). That can unease the newborn or parents which will effect the atmosphere for the session. (Parent or Sibling shots are not available with the Blissful Mini-Session, the Newborn Bliss Baby Only Session or the Baby Bliss Session.)
•Anything else I should bring?
Extra bottles with formula or pumped breast milk and a “soothie” pacifier- the greenish kind they have in hospitals. These are GOLD in keeping them asleep!
•How should I prepare for my Newborn Session?
Prior to your session, I will send you an email that will contain our Preparation Packet. It will outline specific instructions.
